Range and Habitat Clivia miniata is found in the Eastern Cape Province, KwaZulu-Natal of South Africa and up into Swaziland. They are always found in the forests, under trees, growing in leaf mould on the forest floor. Only found in humas rich, well drained soil.
Measurements C. miniata grows to a height of around 80 cm, and is clump forming. The leaves can be 5-9 cm wide and about 100 cm long. The flowers range in shape from barely open trumpet shaped to wide open. The colour varies from pale orange to a dark orange to almost red. Most having a yellow center, occasionally with green or white centers. The inflorescence can contain up to 45 individual flowers on a 40 cm flower stalk. The pollinated flowers will soon develop into berries which as it matures turns from green to red, each berry containing between 1 and 20 seeds.
